"Imagine" (1971)

Lyrics:

[Verse 1]
Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us, only sky
Imagine all the people living for today
Ah
Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people living life in peace
You

[Chorus]
You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope some day you'll join us
And the world will be as one

[Verse 2]
Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people sharing all the world
You

[Chorus]
You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope some day you'll join us
And the world will live as one

This one is easily recognized as Lennon's most iconic song of his solo career. When people think of John Lennon, they easily recognize him by this song, for better or for worse. It speaks of dreaming about a Utopian world, wanting people to stop for even just one minute to think about how their lives would be there. Lennon wants to create the idea of a perfectly peaceful world, no matter how impossible it may seem to be. If people can come together and believe in this ideal, making it less impossible to one day achieve.
